Have been looking for a good transportation to go around the city and the beach with our Healthy Happy Pooches (HHP) for a few years. I haven’t driven since 2001 so it’s taken some time to come up with the perfect way of getting around to do what I would like to do.
I came up with an idea of riding a tricycle that is much more safe than a bicycle. Especially since keeping a balance if difficult while HHP move around while I’m riding. I tried many tricycles, but didn’t feel safe and none of them were good to transport dogs. Last year I saw one tricycle with a cargo in the front side so I said “This is it!”
If the cargo is a big enough then I can transport our HHP. I had found out that the tricycle was available locally. I tired Virtue School bus at BIKE ATTACK on Main St. Santa Monica. Virtue makes good looking tricycle and they are based in San Diego so I thought this is great, but it was very uncomfortable to ride since the cargo and handle bar was connected. Each time I turned the whole cargo had to come with the handle bar. I also did not feel safe riding and the quality wasn’t great. I also checked another one, Babboe from Holland at BIKE ATTACK, this one was quality made, but also the handle bar and the cargo were both connected. I was very disappointed, but didn’t give up my search. I found out about Nihola from Denmark. It looked to be a dream cargo tricycle. It looked very smooth — turning corners since the handle bar and the cargo are not connected and you would not believe, but is has a special cargo for dogs! Nicola is only available at one bicycle shop, Practical Cycle in Sacramento which imports this cargo tricycle to the United State from Denmark. (Good thing it was in California!)
I really wanted to try riding it so made a plan to go Sacramento. Took a while, but I convinced my husband, Eric to drive for Healthy Happy Pooch and me to go Sacramento on Memorial weekend. We stopped over night at our mountain cabin in North Fork near Yosemite National Park, California then took a day trip to Sacramento.
Nihola did not disappoint me. I felt safe and easy to turn the corner as I test rode. Kula of Healthy Happy Pooch also enjoyed the ride.
I can’t wait to ride this in Santa Monica with all of our Healthy Happy Pooches this summer and promote Healthy Happy Pooch book with them.
Wags and woofs!
